Marc Levy
Marc Levy was born on October 16th, 1961, in France. At the age of eighteen, he joined the Red Cross, where he spent six years. In parallel, he studied management and computers at Paris-Dauphine University. In 1983, he created a company specializing in computer graphics in France and the United States. In 1989, he lost majority control of the group and resigned, starting again from scratch. He returned to Paris and co-founded an interior design and construction company with two friends; the company would become one of the first office architecture firms in France.

When he was thirty-seven, Marc Levy wrote a story for the man that his son would grow up to be. His sister, a screenwriter, encouraged him to send the manuscript to Editions Robert Laffont, who immediately decided to publish If Only it Were True. Right before it was published, Steven Spielberg (Dreamworks) acquired film rights to the novel. The movie, called Just like Heaven, produced by Steven Spielberg, starring Reese Witherspoon and Mark Ruffalo, was number one at the American box office when it came out in 2005.

After his first novel, If Only it Were True, was published, Marc Levy decided to dedicate himself to writing full-time. All of his novels have hit the annual best-seller list in France as soon as they have been published and are very successful internationally. Will you be There? was published in 2001 (adapted for television in 2007), Seven Days for an Eternity in 2003, In Another Life in 2004, Finding You, the sequel to If Only it Were True, in 2005, London Mon Amour in 2006 (adapted to film in 2008), Children of Freedom in 2007,  All Those Things We Never Said in 2008, The First Day in June 2009, and its sequel, The First Night, in December 2009. The Shadow Thief, his eleventh novel, will be published in France on June 17th, 2010.

The combined worldwide sales of his first ten novels, translated in 41 languages, have exceeded the 20 million copy mark. Marc Levy is the most read French author in the world. (Source for all rankings and figures: Ipsos / Livres Hebdo) Marc Levy has also written some short stories and directed a short film for Amnesty International, Nabila's Letter, screened in March 2004. In addition, he has written a few song lyrics for various artists including Johnny Hallyday.
